Looking back at the history of the world and we cannot help but wonder what the original state of man was when we entered this planet. We know from the revealed declarations of the Bible that the original state of man’s life on this world was different than the sinful world that we see today. From the facts of the Bible, we come to understand that when Adam was created by God that man was created in a state of maturity. This maturity meant that when Adam was created he was created as an adult. It is a common misunderstanding that when man appeared on the earth that he was an infant and that he had to create for himself all that we now have. We now know from the revealed pages of Scripture that this is not so. In fact when God made man, God gave man the tools that we need to survive and that all of our millions of hours of speculation of the original needs for early human communities amounts to just large amounts of wasted time when we could’ve found out the answer for sure from God Himself Who was there when we were created.
But while the original Adam was created in a state of maturity and was given the ability to come to an extraordinary amount of knowledge from his birth so to speak, we should not then think that Adam was perfect in the sense of spiritual perfection. As we learn quickly into the story of man’s creation from the testimony of God that we were created with the potential to make the decision for ourselves to violate God’s decrees. We were not created as robots. Instead, Adam was created in the image of God and as such he was given the ability to make his own free will decisions. And Adam enjoyed the ability to not only have experienced the world before the curse, but Adam was also able to enjoy for the time before the fall the perfect peace of perfect matrimony with Eve. And this perfect relationship was augmented with the reason that was given to Adam that was completely without the limitations of our own current fallen reasoning powers which are subject to the fall’s curse and the fall’s limitations. It was in this perfect state that Adam was given dominion over all of the animals of the earth. This dominion is at best an imperfect dominion today with few animal species still giving man their obedience. We humans having abdicated our moral leadership in Adam have necessarily left the animals to fend for themselves for the most part.
